Is it just me or is teenage pregnancy totally glamorized now? Every time I log onto facebook someone else has tagged 50 of my friends on a picture of their newborn or 3 month old baby. THAT SCARES ME! I just blogged about Spring Break safety on the education page of GoUpstate.com (…

While attending a recent youth workshop on social media hosted by the SC Campaign’s FABULOUS Health Communications Specialist Taylor Wilson, I learned a few things about the art of social media. My discoveries included:
1) As a blogger, I tend to RANT. If you look back at any of my previous blogs on Personal Perspectives, you’ll notice that I’m often motivated to write because something or someone has ticked me off (see my blog on lingerie football if you don’t believe…

It's okay. You can admit it. You wouldn't be the first person to be a Teen Mom or 16 and Pregnant addict. Adults and young people alike find themselves being pulled into the saga of the day-to-day lives of the real life "characters" on these two reality shows. For Teen Mom in particular, we've been able to follow a much larger span of time to learn not just what having a baby is like but also what living with a toddler is like, what it's like to juggle relationships with…

Recent survey data in Spartanburg has shown that adults feel the community could be doing a better job to help prevent teen pregnancy and that they aren't really aware of what programs are currently available for young people to help prevent teen pregnancy.
